Dear Community Partner,
Thank you – on behalf of HomeFirst, The Health Trust, LifeMoves, Abode Services and Destination: Home – to the candidates and everyone who attended our San Jose Candidate Forum on Monday, April 18 at the Boccardo Reception Center. Special thanks goes to Katherine Harasz, Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the County of Santa Clara, and Anthony King from Silicon Valley DeBug for serving as moderators and to the Santa Clara County Register of Voters staff for helping register new voters.Dear Community Partner,
Many questions came from homeless and formerly homeless individuals in our audience. Topics included how San Jose could develop Extremely Low Income (ELI) housing, candidates’ views on sanctioned encampments, the high number of chronically homeless woman in this county, rent control, priorities for new city funding, short term solutions to the housing crisis, prioritization of new revenues, and the transitional housing project planned for Evans Lane. Please read more about the forum in the San Jose Mercury News.

In addition to funds raised, it is an opportunity to promote the work Destination: Home and our partners are doing in the community to end homelessness, including the All the Way Home campaign to end veteran homelessness. Please take a moment to view our SVGives fundraising page, consider making a donation or share with friends. Ending homelessness will take all of us, so thank you in advance for supporting our work.
