Santa Clara County Spends $520 Million a Year on Homeless

Santa Clara County has the seventh-largest homeless population in the United States, a problem that costs the county around $520 million each year, according to a new study. The report followed more than 104,000 homeless people over a five-year period, taking into account costs such as emergency room visits, mental health care and jail time. Advocates say the annual price tag makes the case for housing homeless people instead of paying for other related costs. We take a detailed look at the report and homelessness in Santa Clara County.

Host: Michael Krasny
