An Affordable Housing Week Event

Prerequisites and Materials: All are invited! No previous involvement, experience or knowledge is required. Gilroy City Council meets next door immediately following at 6pm.

Special Bonus: After the meeting, all are invited to walk over together to the Gilroy City Council Meeting to support a City of Gilroy proclamation to commemorate Affordable Housing Week and “call upon all members of our community to support affordable housing solutions and to recognize the successful efforts of the City and its dedicated partners who seek to improve access to affordable housing opportunities in Gilroy and our neighboring communities”.

We are making progress!

To end and prevent homelessness throughout our community, we urgently need to build more lowest income affordable housing and supportive housing. Since Santa Clara County residents voted for the Affordable Housing Bond (Measure A) in November 2016, the County of Santa Clara has funded 19 new housing developments in six cities (including one dedicated to seniors coming soon to Gilroy). Thanks to this funding and more from our cities, the Santa Clara County Housing Authority and the private sector, these developments will bring more than 1,400 new apartment homes for those in our community who need them most.

Housing Ready Communities

This community meeting is organized collaboratively in support of the Housing Ready Communities initiative to bring together neighbors, community groups, nonprofits, government and housing developers to take action and support approval of new supportive housing and extremely low income affordable housing throughout Santa Clara County.

For more information about the Housing Ready Communities initiative, including an events calendar of learning and action opportunities, an interactive housing map, tools and other resources, visit housingready.org

Housing Ready Communities is a Destination: Home initiative implemented in partnership with the County of Santa Clara Office of Supportive Housing, the City of San Jose Housing Department, the Santa Clara County Housing Authority, Silicon Valley at Home, community organizations and neighbors throughout the county. Housing Ready Communities is generously supported by Symantec.
