Edwina Benner Plaza Grand Opening Celebration
May 16 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Come celebrate the completion of Edwina Benner Plaza, 66 affordable apartment homes for families and those with supportive housing needs in Sunnyvale.
Named in honor of Edwina Benner, California’s first female mayor who served as the Mayor of Sunnyvale from 1924 to 1926 and again from 1938 to 1940, Benner Plaza is located on a formerly underutilized site where a single story commercial building once stood.
The site’s redevelopment furthers Sunnyvale’s vision to transform the area into a well-served neighborhood housing local workers in close proximity to schools, parks, retail, employment opportunities, and public transit connections. Edwina Benner Plaza addresses the pressing need for affordable housing in Silicon Valley, one of the nation’s most expensive housing markets.
Come celebrate the completion of Edwina Benner Plaza, 66 affordable apartments for families in Sunnyvale. Edwina Benner Plaza helps address the pressing need for affordable housing in one of the nation’s most expensive housing markets by providing 66 affordable rental apartments for households earning up to 60% of Santa Clara County area median income. Thirteen units are reserved for families that are currently homeless and another 10 are reserved for families at risk of homelessness.
Join us for the Grand Opening program and Ribbon Cutting Celebration, part of SV@Home’s Affordable Housing Week.
