Hamstrung by Prop. 13, cities often rely on the impact fees from new development to fund infrastructure or other necessary investments. While they can be an important tool, these fees also increase the price of new construction, sometimes rendering projects unfeasible in a high-cost environment like the Bay Area.
Join us for a conversation with researchers, city staff and developers grappling with these tensions.
