Inclusionary Housing Ordinance Public Meeting
August 14, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Inclusionary Housing Ordinance Outreach Session – Open Public Meeting: The City of San José’s Inclusionary Housing Ordinance (IHO) requires developers of multi-family residential projects to include units that are affordable to lower-income residents. In lieu of building these affordable units, developers may select from a variety of compliance options, including paying a fee to help fund affordable housing at other locations. The IHO plays a key role in meeting the City’s response to the housing crisis You can read more about the current ordinance on our website: http://www.sanjoseca.gov/index.aspx?NID=3979
The City is considering changes to the IHO to ensure the program produces as many affordable housing units as possible for a range of households. The City is looking at numerous strategies for encouraging more residential developers to include on-site units rather than pay the fee, new approaches for serving residents across a wider range of incomes, and new ways to extend the period of mandatory affordability.
This is an opportunity for you to learn about and provide feedback on the proposed changes to the Inclusionary Housing Ordinance.
