State of Community Housing Activism in the South Bay

May 6 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-state-of-community-housing-activism-in-the-south-bay-tickets-60506340092

The breadth of the Bay Area’s housing crisis has activated people across Santa Clara County wanting to contribute to policy solutions. These local residents have come together to form a new generation of community organizations dedicated to using grassroots organizing and policy expertise to advocate for more housing and affordable housing at the level of city government. With successes across the County, they’ve proven that local, organized voices can push city councils to plan for and permit new affordable housing opportunities.

Join representatives of several of these grassroots organizations to learn more about their origins, their missions, their successes, and how they plan to continue to grow their movement. The discussion will be followed by a Q+A session for the audience to ask their own questions. Confirmed panelists include:

Sue Serrone, Livable Sunnyvale
JR Fruen, Cupertino For All
TBD Santa Clara Advocates Representative
Kelsey Banes, South Bay YIMBY (Palo Alto)
Moderator: Kiyomi Honda Yamamoto, Greenbelt Alliance

Dinner will be provided!

This event is co-hosted by Greenbelt Alliance and Silicon Valley at Home
