Destination: Home is partnering with the ¡Sí Se Puede! Collective on the Silicon Valley Guaranteed Income Project, a two-year guaranteed income pilot designed to help people currently experiencing homelessness or housing instability gain greater independence over their lives, finances, and future. Half of the families participating in the pilot are affiliated with the ¡Sí Se Puede! Collective’s network of service providers in East San José.
The Silicon Valley Guaranteed Income Project is just one example of the ¡Sí Se Puede! Collective’s economic, racial, and social justice driven work to ensure that the East San José community thrives. The Collective is a collaborative of 5 nonprofits (Amigos de Guadalupe, Grail Family Services, School of Arts & Culture, SOMOS Mayfair, and Veggielution) working together with their community to create programs tailored to their wants and needs – including housing support.
The ¡Sí Se Puede! Collective provides housing services that include safe parking spaces for those living in their vehicles, temporary housing, and financial assistance. They also provide other basic needs services like food boxes and child care. They help community members in accessing the right programs for their needs, and are with them every step of the way.
Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past ten years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity. If you’re in the position to do so, please consider giving to the ¡Sí Se Puede! Collective this #GivingTuesday: https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/sspc.
