Our Homelessness Prevention System: A Model For Replication

When we launched the Homelessness Prevention System alongside our system partners, we set out with a single mission: to keep people in their homes and prevent homelessness before it even starts. Based on the proven success over the last eight years, our local program is being held up as the model to replicate across the country.

Our partners at Results for America have just released a new resource outlining how to launch, operate and manage a homelessness prevention system, offering a clear path forward for other communities to replicate our success in Santa Clara County. With the launch of the “Building a Homelessness Prevention System” toolkit, cities and counties across the country can begin exploring what is needed to create their own evidence-based prevention programs, ensuring that fewer families experience homelessness in the first place.

This is more than just a success story – it’s a game-changing approach to ending homelessness. By focusing on prevention, we’re tackling the root causes of housing instability and showing that keeping families in their homes is both compassionate and cost-effective. Research from Notre Dame’s Lab for Economic Opportunities has proven that this solution doesn’t just delay homelessness—it prevents it altogether.

We know prevention works, now join us in expanding the solution and making it the reality in communities across the country. Read the toolkit and learn how you can help:
